Advanced biomaterials for nerve engineering and repair

Co-Chairs:

Mikhail Berezin, Washington University in St. Louis

Matthew Wood, Washington University in St. Louis

Summary:

Restoration of a damaged nervous system is a great challenge in medicine due to the complex nerve physiology and limited regenerative capacity. Developing novel approaches in the nerve regeneration requires a concerted multidisciplinary effort from engineers, chemists, biologists, and physicians to understand the mechanism of the nerve damage and develop new biomaterials, growth-stimulating techniques and nerve-related imaging modalities. This session will be discussing emerging and exciting advances in the nerve repair.
